Everton Luiz

luiz    Born in Macaúbas – Bahia, Brazil, Everton Luiz began his music studies at age 11 at the Philharmonic Orchestra Nossa Senhora da Imaculada Conceição in Macaúbas-BA, where he remained as a flutist and clarinetist until age 15. Everton holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education and flute performance from the Federal University of Goiás where he studied under the tutelage Sergio Barrenechea, Luis Carlos Furtado and Norton Morozowicz. In addition to his undergraduate studies, Mr. Luiz also holds a Master’s degree in Music, Culture and Society from the Federal University of Goiás, under the guidance of Dr. Magda Clímaco. Everton is currently a conductor of the Cerrado Wind and Percussion Orchestra in Goiania – GO, and a member of the celebrated Pequi Band, serving as principal tenor saxophone and flute player. Mr. Luiz has studied instrumental music and conducting with renowned musicians such as Joel Nascimento, Wendell Dobbs (USA), Monica Giardini, Emilio de Cesar, Gottfried Engels (GER) and Roberto Farias. While pursuing his bachelor’s 

degree at the Federal University of Goiás, Everton was the winner of the Jean Doulliez Orchestra Young Soloist Competition and received the third place in the Young Talents Competition. He also participated in several music festivals in Brazil, having the chance to perform for internationally acclaimed teachers such as Nelson Faria, Arismar do Espirito Santo,Leila Pinheiro, Toninho Horta, Elza Soares, João Bosco, Gilson Peranzzetta, among others. Everton was in the faculty of the Anápolis Music Festival, the International Music Festival in Goiânia, Canto da Primavera Festival in Pirinópolis, and the woodwind workshop at Siete Octavos school in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2014. Today, Mr. Luiz works as a multi-instrumentalist (playing flute, saxophones, clarinet, and accordion) and arranger of samba, choro, Brazilian popular music, orchestral and chamber music. Everton is a founding member of the group "Brasil in Trio" where he performs alongside Julio Lemos and Diego Amaral. Brasil in Trio has just released a CD that pays tribute to the composer Alessandro Goiano Branco, who is an effective music teacher in the state of Goiás and conductor of the Orquestra Popular Sesi.
